After much experience with pollen sifters, we've noticed that magnets usually do more harm than good. When magnets come together or pull apart, the motion is often fast or jerky, making magnets an unnecessary risk. Your pollen is always at risk of being flung through the air every time you pull them apart. But without magnets, getting to your pollen is quick and risk free, just lift and peek. There are no gaps around the edges to lose your pollen. Every bit of pollen falls to the black glass below where even the smallest amount of pollen is visible against the black background. The middle/screen section of your box contains your herbs, and you'll need to place it somewhere safe to protect your mesh screen and your herbs. Another great feature of this stackable model is the middle section fits nicely in the lid when you're accessing the pollen on the glass. Please read more about Sifter Boxes here (the word 'here' is a link to 'Read Me' pulldown #2) Read Me pulldown #2 - Pollen 101: Pollen 101 (TITLE, CENTERED) A pollen sifter box is simply a stash box that SAVES YOUR POLLEN!!! If you're one of those people who uses a baggie, jar or plactic container to store your herbs, you've probably noticed those crystals that collect inside. You've probably wished you could save those too. With one of these boxes, you can produce loads of pollen without even realizing how fast it's piling up. Use the box (like you would use a rolling tray or any other stash box) to break apart, clean and sort your herbs. Every time you work with your herbs, tiny crystals (often referred to as glands, trichromes or kif) and "shake flakes" fall through the screen (or mesh) and collect on a mirror/glass, producing the extremely potent pollen. Collect the pollen into a pile (a razor blade works best), and use it as a "bowl-topper" or save it for later. Even stems and seeds are loaded with pollen....let them move around the screen while you're working with the herbs. These boxes are often called pollenators, spice boxes or crystal collectors. We like to call them 'Sifting and Salvage Boxes', which are 'what they do' and 'why'. These boxes sift so you can salvage. So what makes our box the greatest pollen sifter box on Earth? There are 3 components to any box: the case, the mesh screen and the glass bottom. I use only the dank materials to build them. Beautiful and Eco-friendly Rubberwood, 100 mesh stainless steel screens and quality black glass bottoms. But the thing you will be pleased with the most is the Practical Stackable Design. More on that in the next paragraph. First, a piece of advice to all pollen box users.... Don't buy boxes with any SCREEN other than 100 mesh stainless steel. They produce the perfect amount of pollen. I've seen boxes with 120 and even 150 mesh. Don't waste your time with these because they don't produce much pollen. The mesh is simply too fine. It's more like a cloth and requires frequent cleaning, especially if your stash is really sticky. I've also seen boxes with 80 mesh screens. This must be some kind of joke, and an even bigger waste of time than 120 mesh. The holes are large enough to allow more than just the crystals to pass through. Some of your stash will fall through as well, and that's not what these boxes are used for. Finally, stay away from the silkscreen, polyester and Nylon screens! I've seen em all, they're out there, they're crap, enough said. I've personally used over a dozen different pollen sifter boxes over the years, and I mean it when I say that only 100 mesh stainless steel will satisfy you. We've learned a lot about sifter boxes over the years and have determined that every box we've ever used had one of these major flaws: 1) The screen was not 100 mesh stainless steel. 2) The shape and size of the box did not allow for much hand room. 3) Accessing to the pollen was not practical. I'll explain more on 2 and 3, the screen was explained above. The size and shape of most of the boxes we've used has been awkward. Apparently designers have had trouble grasping the concept of "having room for your hands and fingers," enough room to reach into the corner of the box for a chunk of herbs. Would you believe that we've actually used a box that was deeper than it was wide? Think about that. How are you supposed to work with your herbs in a 'barrel'? We've designed a box that's more like a tray than a bowl, with loads of hand/finger room and easy access into the corners. As for "access to the pollen," our "stackable" design is the best way to go. You've probably seen the "sliding glass tray" style boxes. These are too cumbersome and the pollen is not as easily accessed. You always have some sort of locking mechanism, which usually gets loosened over time. The sliding glass tray has to be removed and re-inserted every time you check the "progress" of your accumulating pollen. And when it's time to scrape it into a pile, you always find yourself searching for somewhere to set it down so that you don't spill your treasure. We finally decided that if someone is gonna do it right, it'll have to be us.......so, we bring you Hazemaker Pollen Sifter Boxes. NOW YOU KNOW WHAT MAKES A GREAT POLLEN BOX. PLEASE READ How to Get the Most Out of Your Box (this is a link to 'Read Me' pulldown #3 - see bcboxes !!!!!!!!) Read Me pulldown #3 - Maximize Your Output: How to Get the Most Out of Your Box (TITLE, CENTERED) 1) Obtain a Pollen Box. Read POLLEN 101 to learn the details on what makes a great box. 2) Obtain some herbs. Since the mesh screen produces a powder, and powders are dry, your herbs must be dry as well. Really moist herbs broken up in a sifter box will only lead you to two results, and niether is good. First, your screen will clog up more quickly. If you herbs are always dry, the screen (or wire mesh) should last for several months before requiring a cleaning. The other result of moist herbs is.....THEY DON'T PRODUCE ANY POLLEN !! So, kids, please keep your moist herbs out of the box. A tip on drying your herbs quickly, but not too quickly.....place them in a brown paper bag for a few hours, or even up to a day. The brown paper sucks the moisture right out of those herbs. You don't want to dry em up to quickly because the slower it dries, more crystals will appear on the herbs . Dry it too quickly and you get fewer crystals. 3) Use the box (like you would use a rolling tray or any other stash box) to break apart, clean and sort your herbs. Every time you work with your herbs, tiny crystals (often referred to as glands or trichromes) and "shake flakes" fall through the screen (or mesh) and collect on a mirror, producing the extremely potent pollen. Even stems and seeds are loaded with pollen....let them move around the screen while you're working with the herbs. Some people like to "rape" the herbs of the crystals by rubbing the herbs into the screen or shaking the box with the lid on. We think this is totally unnecessary. Just take it as it comes naturally. It will probably produce more quickly than you expect. We don't recommend doing either the rubbing or shaking side to side. Just use the box like a regular stash box to break the herbs in. Just working with it (breaking up and cleaning) is enough to produce the powder, especially when you scrape the cleaned herbs into a pile because you're rubbing (or lightly scraping) the screen when you do this. 4) Collect the pollen into a pile (a razor blade works best), and use it as a "bowl-topper" or save it for later. Read Me pulldown #4 - Comments: Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. (TITLE, CENTERED) "I have been a medical user for over two years now and have used 4 other boxes of mine and friends during this time. I'm 100% disabled and have trouble using my fingers/hands on days when the nerve pain is intense. Now to the matter at hand....Your product has enough room to get both hands busy with room to spare. The screen is the perfect size for keeping out the trash while allowing those precious glands to pass through. Needless to say, I'm extremely impressed with the ease of operability of your box. You claim that you know boxes. You are absolutly right. You do! Your boxes are the only ones I will ever use or recommend . Keep up the good work. Thank you, Dan" "The boxes arrived, and I AM very pleased. This is my fifth or sixth box, and these are by far the best. I was going to give one away, but liked em so much I decided to keep them both. I will definately be sending some business your way. Good luck and thank you. Phil" "Thank you sir. Our boxes arrived yesterday. They look and work great. We had a stock pile to try out. We are very pleased and will recommend them to our friends.......We'll be in contact again. Thanks again buddy. Peace, Aaron" "...it's one of the best investments I have ever made. It produces the perfect amount of pollen (I have friends who have others and they let too much herb matter go through). It was worth every dollar I spent! Thank you!.......Again, I absolutely love your product!!! Thank you very much, Neil" "heh, thought you might like to know... One of your boxes made it to the hotel room the night before, and then backstage at a S----- concert. P--- and S----- (P--- is the drummer) liked it a lot and I told them where to go to get one. Any orders to M------ may be for that band. Thx, Scott" I don't want to give the band's name, the members' names or their location. "Today I ordered a large "producer" size kif box from your site. I am just recovering from a bad experience because I ordered a kif box from "B-- Ind-------" at "EZ----.com" via paypal and never received the merchandise. I filed a complaint with paypal and luckily my money was refunded after nearly five weeks of waiting in vain. In a way I am glad I didn't get the box from Bub because your boxes look to be much higher quality goods. I especially like the stainless steel screen (I know B-- Ind------- uses silkscreen). Plus I like the stackable design. Anyway, the reason I am writing is simply to inquire as to how long it will take my box to arrive. After the bad experience I had waiting and waiting with EZ----.com, I just want to have an idea when to expect the box. Thank you, Pat" Again, I don't want to give the names of these 2 apparently crooked companies. You definately have the 'cadillac of boxes'. the Box works great. I will tell All my People .. Evan Thanks so much for making such a beautiful box. It is super and sits proudly on my coffee table. I'll be sure to pass along to others what wonderful work you do. Dusty Thanks again for your time on the phone answering all my questions. David The box looks great. The size is perfect. Can't wait to start "sifting & salvaging." Thanks a lot, Rob Your box comes highly recommended. I look forward to sifting, but more to salvaging!. Jon the box worked a treat. it's surprising the amount of kif it produces! anyway the lads and lasses, who saw the box or the kif block I made, were all very impressed. so I plugged the web site for u. laters, matt got mine the other day. love it. the router work is outstanding. the inside is nice n smooth. The box came yesterday, and I'm thrilled with it. I will extol the virtues of your boxes to everyone I know that can use one. After seeing mine last night, my brother is already convinced. the box came today, and i gotta say i'm really impressed w/ the craftsmanship, and super-psyched to start using it. give my commendation to whomever crafted this box. it was well worth the wait. Read Me pulldown #5 - Screen Cleaning: Is your screen getting clogged and sticky? (TITLE, CENTERED) Cleaning time, huh? Here's what you can do to clean your screen. First, take a toothbrush and brush the screen to save all the pollen that's on it. Of course let it fall onto the mirror. Also brush it upside down, sitting on the bottom/glass but with the bottom of the screen facing up. There's usually a nice layer of pollen under the screen that doesn't fall off by brushing the top of the screen, but by brushing the bottom. That's one of the cool things about our boxes, you can flip the screen and brush it directly over the mirror. I do this when I need some really quick pollen. So now you've salvaged all the pollen off your screen and you need to clean it. Use a toothbrush for this too, but you gotta use some cleaners. The clogged screen will not unclog without cleaners. Rubbing alcohol works well. Simple Green works well. Brush both the top and bottom of the screen. Don't soak the wood in cleaner, just dip your brush into the cleaner to wet it. Then rinse the entire screen piece with warm water. The stainless steel screen should now be as good as new. | |||
